Love

 

My Philosophy on Love:

Based on my experience and studies, I believe that what we call “love” is actually a form of necessity. Human beings have both biological and spiritual needs, and what we often interpret as love is simply the fulfillment or expression of these needs.

Between a man and a woman, what truly exists is attraction, not love. In Surah Ar-Rum, Ayah 21, Allah(God) says that He placed “mawaddah” and mercy between a husband and wife at the time of nikah(wedding). While mawaddah is commonly translated as love, its deeper and more accurate meaning is attraction, a natural bond that draws them toward one another.

So, if your question is about love between men and women, my understanding is that it is attraction rather than an abstract emotion called love. When a man says he wants friendship with a woman, it may begin as friendship, but it  becomes more than just friendship due to the natural attraction Allah(God) has placed between the two genders.
